The Mary Byrne Trophy competition

The Mary Byrne Trophy competition was held on Monday, 17th August. This competition is for ladies only, the trophy having been presented in memory of our first lady president, Mary Byrne. It was presented by her husband, the late Gilmour Byrne (a former president himself). Mary was president in the 1993/4 season in Moran Park.

The event was very well attended by our ladies. This year, Danaë Maguire was the overall winner and she received the Trophy plus a gift voucher. This was decided on a one-bowl shootout by the members of the winning rink. Other members of this rink, who also got a gift voucher, were Phyl Fox, Joan Needham and Bríd Brien.

Afterwards there was a great spread of yummy food and a welcome cup of tea served on the patio outside. Everyone seemed to have a really enjoyable day and we wish to thank Gay, Eithne, Hazel and Carmel for helping to organise it. Also a big thank you to everyone who provided the really nice eats afterwards.
